What to wear!? Please read our suggestions on wardrobe before your start planning the style of your shoot…

1.    Wear what you feel comfortable in and what makes you feel great
2.    Pick out a color or two to pop, but try to work with softer tones or neutrals as your base (blush, cream, grey, tan, black)
3.     Accessorize to add color and interest (hats, jewelry, flowers)
4.     Layers and Texture add detail and depth (scarves, robes, fabric)
5.     Avoid text and big/loud patterns that could date the clothing/images; Patterns are okay in moderation
6.    Subtle props enhance and add meaning (the champagne flute from your wedding, your mother’s vintage coat, his grandfather’s pocket watch)
7.    Shoes matter: though you might be barefoot for many of your shots, shoes (especially heels) are the ultimate accessory
8.    Try to select items of clothing that are timeless so as not to date yourself
9.    Try to find pieces (a scarf or flowy shirt or skirt) that create MOVEMENT
10.  Don’t feel obligated to wear lingerie! We will create beautifully sensual and stunning images with a loose fitting blouse or a satin robe so don’t feel pressured to go shopping and buy something out of your comfort zone. Remember #1! Stay comfortable!

Classic Boudoir Photos

Boudoir photos don’t have to be taken in the nude or even in lingerie. Boudoir photos don’t have to be in the bedroom or even in the home. There are all sorts of boudoir photo ideas that my women come up with and it’s the best when it’s whatever/wherever and however you want it to be.

I think an intimate photography session is important for every woman. It’s an opportunity to let loose and love yourself a little bit more. You get your make up and hair done, you put on something you feel great in then shine in all the lovely light available. It’s a ridiculously fun experience and we create some ridiculously rad images together in the process.

Boudoir literally means ‘the woman’s private room.’ To illustrate a fresh idea for boudoir pictures, here are some images from a grungy garage that we turned into this gorgeous girl’s private room…

To illustrate a fresh idea for boudoir pictures, I’m sharing some images from a personal project I shot teamed with the amazing photographer, Chad Sengstock of ISHOT Photography. We got access to a grungy garage, a gorgeous girl and a very talented hair/make-up artist to collaborate for some fun photos. Boudoir literally means ‘the woman’s private room,’ so if yours is the bathroom, an office or a garage, we’ll rock it!

Intimacy is the act of connecting with someone so deeply, you feel like you can see into their soul.

intimate photography

We women are such interesting creatures. We’re all so different, from the colors of our hair and the shades of our lips to the colors and shades of our attitudes and feelings. Yet we’re all so alike. We often find ourselves judging one another for things that end up being reflections we see of ourselves. So diverse in so many ways, yet so simply the same.

When we bind together we’re stronger than we are alone. But so often, so many of us select the solitude. We feel like the way we feel is the only way its ever been felt and that no one could possibly understand. But when we open ourselves up to new possibilities we gain strength from the strength of others and become powerful beyond our wildest imaginations. We can acknowledge unique situations but we become far more capable when we tie them together.

The best is when we strip ourselves of the differences and sit together completely bare. Sometimes it’s around a quiet kitchen table or in the corner of a loud bar and sometimes its in the comfort of a private room. Often tears are shed and laughs are shared and often no words are spoken at all. The shades shift and colors combine and we sit with a knowledge that we’re in this together, and that the women surrounding us create a more solid woman than we ever could have been on our own. And it’s moments like that that make me proud to be part of this interesting element of creation.

Looking forward to some bare moments in the boudoir with you.
